Shhh – it’s a secret!

At the end of the year “The Sisters” are retiring!

Help us celebrate this final year as your local garden center since 1968.

As a small family business, current owners and sisters Cindy and Terri, remember how their father Wallace “Red” Poehls would stroll at dinnertime from the unattended garden center to their family home at the far edge of the property, and the girls would be assigned to watch out the window just in case any customers pulled in to the garden center parking lot. Today, as the owners considered retirement, they decided the right time is at the end of 2026 after the December Holiday season.

They have agreed to sell the land to the Village of Northbrook. It is proposed as a future home to Northbrook’s first responders. We want to celebrate Reds retirement decision with the community – and we are proud to know that the Village will use our property in the future to build a new home for Police and Fire. It makes us proud to be part of this community for the long term.

Reds Garden Center, will continue to offer a wide selection of premium plants, expert gardening advice, and quality supplies to help your garden thrive for 2026.  If you purchased any plants that came with a guarantee, don’t worry, we will be accessible next year to honor those guarantees.
