Our Design Philosophy

For those of you who haven't been to Reds Garden Center, we are a very unique family owned garden center. Those of you who have been here know we have a very friendly and knowledgeable staff that can help you with gardening on every level. From taking care of your garden with things like fertilizers, solving pest and disease problems, to landscaping on a small scale by guiding you with picking out a replacement shrub, choosing a shade tree or evergreen, or even getting help with designing an annual pot!

We also offer gardening on a larger scale with our landscape design division. That's where I come in. My name is Kelly Monroe and I have been with Reds for eleven years. What I do at Reds is help those customers who need help with their landscaping. We offer on-site visits at a small charge where you can tell me what you are looking to change, fix, or completely redo. After the visit you will receive a detailed design and estimate of the areas we discussed. Even better is after receiving the estimate. We can show you the plants we have recommended here on our property and you can even choose the exact plants to go in your garden! Cool huh?

No project is too small or too big. We even can help break projects down in stages for you. We offer installation of our plants or we can show you how to do it on your own.

So why ask me for help at Reds? Well, when designing landscapes I imagine that the landscape is my backyard, or my front walk, or even my perennial garden. I enjoy making those spaces personal for each client. When we install and care for a job I care for it as if it were my own. I know my crew thinks I'm a little "loca." But we move plants inches to make them fit just right or turn them until they look perfect.

I can't explain it. There is just something special about working with living things and making spaces more beautiful that I love. It is an exciting experience to work with a couple, an individual, or family and get them involved in creating their outdoor spaces. To get them excited about what we are creating, about using the space, and to watch a space transform. It is truly fun.

There are moments you don't forget in this business, too. Like when a young child is so excited to tell me about the flowers we planted and what they do to help in the yard. How a grandmother tells me how much she enjoys the plants we have installed and that it is something she looks forward to seeing grow from season to season and share with her grandchildren. Or when a client comes in and hugs you because they are so excited to get started on a job. You just don't forget it. Those moments are important to me. These are "Reds" moments. It's personal, and I love doing it.
